The parents of the newly crowned Queen of Busoga, HRH Jovia Mutesi, made a heartfelt appeal to her husband and monarch, Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula, to cherish and safeguard her as they embark on this new journey together. During the royal wedding reception at the Igenge Palace in Jinja, Florence Bayoole, the queen’s mother, delivered a passionate speech, urging the king to love and protect her daughter.
“Baaba Kyabazinga, we have entrusted you with our girl. Any girl named Mutesi in this area is a cherished child in our home. Our daughter is extremely valuable to us,” expressed Mrs. Bayoole. “She has been our flower, and we ask that you continue to love her and not break her heart because breaking her heart would break us too.”
Mrs. Bayoole praised her daughter as a beautiful and intelligent woman, a perfect match for the new role as the mother of Busoga. “Her beauty goes beyond the external; she possesses many qualities that make her even more appealing,” she remarked.
Addressing the Kingdom of Busoga, Mrs. Bayoole emphasized the significance of their daughter, urging them to enhance her qualities and avoid causing her any harm. “We have given you our child; we ask that you contribute positively to her life and not cause her pain. We know she is a good girl. We have raised her well, and we are confident that she will uplift you and lead the kingdom forward.”
Speaking at the wedding reception, Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, the Minister for East African Affairs and a close friend and mentor of King Nadiope, assured the queen’s family that Jovia would be loved and well taken care of. “I want to assure the parents of Jovia that she is in good hands; we shall love and take good care of her,” said Kadaga.
In response, the King of Busoga promised to love his wife “until the Lord takes us from this world.”
