Regarding her former close friend, Jocelyne Tracey, Keko commended Sheebah for her consistent success in the music industry, expressing her appreciation for the artist’s achievements.
Among the mentioned artists, Joshua Baraka may be less familiar. A songwriter, producer, instrumentalist, and musician, Baraka hails from Kazo, Kawempe division in Kampala. Opting to sing in English, he believed there were already many Luganda singers. Baraka pursued Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (P.C.B.) during A-level at Mengo S.S., developing an interest in music production at that time.
Although he faced challenges and performed poorly in A-level, Baraka ventured into music production. After trying nursing and architecture without success, he embraced music as a career. Initially hesitant to perform on stage, a friend encouraged him in 2020, leading to his first gig at a wedding where he received Shs800k for three songs, convincing him to pursue music full-time.
Baraka’s reluctance to sing in Luganda stemmed from difficulty enunciating words properly. Notably, his song “Tewekweka” from the Baby Steps album gained popularity, opening doors to significant opportunities. Collaborating with artists like Rickman Manrick, Baraka continues to work on various projects. Inspired by Bob Marley and Chronixx, he considers them among his role models.
