Mayanja Ibrahim, also recognized as Starboss Big Eye, entered the world on November 9, 1989, in Uganda’s Kampala District within the Kawempe division. He held the position of the fourth child among the seven offspring of Mr. and Mrs. Sulaiman Sempala.
At the tender age of 2, Starboss Big Eye faced a perilous incident when his residence was engulfed in flames. Despite sustaining first-degree burns, he miraculously escaped a tragic fate.
His academic journey began at Kazo Junior School for primary education, followed by St. Mary’s Nabweru for secondary schooling. Although he enrolled at Makerere University, financial constraints forced him to discontinue his studies after the second year.
Commencing his musical career as a solo artist, he debuted with the song “Flavour ya Kiganda.” Subsequently, Starboss Big Eye joined Dr. Jose Chameleone’s Leone Island Music Empire, contributing to various tracks, including the collaborative effort “Nkwagala Nyo Remix” with Dr. Jose Chameleone and the hit “Towakana.”
In 2008, alongside Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo, Starboss Big Eye co-founded the record label Big Talent Entertainment, where he released notable songs like “Oyagala Ani” and the chart-topping “Indicator.” After two years, he ventured to establish his music label, Big Music Entertainment, delivering hits such as “Mango Juice,” “Going Higher,” “Nadeshi,” “Already Booked,” “Tusasanya,” and “Self Contained.”
The pinnacle of his success manifested in 2014 with the Ekikumi Physically Fit Album Launch at Freedom City, earning him a nomination for the Best Concert of the Year at the 2014 HiPipo Music Awards. Subsequently, in 2015, he received the HiPipo Music Award for Best Afro-pop Artist in Uganda.
Today, Starboss Big Eye continues to be a prominent figure in the vibrant landscape of the Ugandan music industry.
