Lord Fred Sebatta, a renowned singer hailing from Uganda specializing in Kadongo Kamu, is a highly skilled artist known for his roles as a singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the founder of Matendo Band, one of Uganda’s prominent Kadongo Kamu bands.
Remarkably, Fred Sebatta stands as the sole surviving Kadongo Kamu artist from the mid-1990s, as his contemporaries Herman Bassude, Kasozi Living Stone, and Prince Paul Job Kafeero all passed away in 1997. During the years 1996 to 1997, they embarked on a fundraising tour named “Muno Mukaabi,” translating to “A Friend In Need.” The purpose was to assist Living Stone Kasozi and his family during a critical period when his health was deteriorating.
Fred Sebatta has contributed numerous singles and albums to the music scene, earning recognition among fans for his captivating and purposeful compositions. His music is characterized by mature lyrics addressing issues within relationships and families, offering insights into the challenges individuals may encounter in these aspects of life.
In a significant milestone, Lord Fred Sebatta released the first HD Ugandan video and song titled “Sam Wange” in the mid-1990s, elevating his status and garnering support nationwide as a distinguished Kadongo Kamu artist in Uganda. Undeterred by challenges, Sebatta persisted in his musical journey, amassing a repertoire of over 100 Kadongo Kamu songs.
