Swangz Avenue unveiled a new artist, Zafaran, on March 22, marking the occasion with the signing of her contract at their industrial area office. Zafaran, also known as Josephine Nakyoonyi, inked the deal with Swangz lawyers, sparking speculation about the nature of the agreement, believed to be a long-term recording contract.
Known for propelling unknown talents to stardom, Swangz Avenue has a track record of transforming artists into household names. Zafaran, who reportedly underwent extensive training before securing the contract, showcased her musical prowess in successful sessions such as the Tusker Malt Conver series, where she collaborated with other musicians.
A recent performance alongside King Saha and Chameleone at a Swangz Avenue concert further heightened Zafaran’s visibility. While details about her music and release plans remain undisclosed, fans are eager to witness her vibrant style, showcased in her role as a backup vocalist during Tusker Malt Conver sessions, characterized by color-blocking and well-tailored suits.
Although Swangz Avenue has not provided a timeline for Zafaran’s music debut, a snippet of what is presumed to be her song played in the reveal video. Notably, Swangz Avenue is now directly managing four artists, all of whom are women. Last year, Winnie Nwagi renewed her contract with Vinka, affiliated with the label based in the industrial area, and AZAWI, under the Swangz umbrella, has been achieving significant success.
In a recent interview, Benon Mugumbya, the director of Swangz Avenue, revealed the label’s intention to retain its current artists while considering the addition of a few more talents to their roster.
