After more than a decade of maintaining a stable and fruitful marital relationship, the singer and musician Mun G has valuable advice to offer to young married couples. Born Emmanuel Mungi Matovu, the accomplished rapper cautions against adopting a “democracy” approach in marriage, emphasizing the importance of making the right choice in a life partner and sustaining effective communication for a successful union.
In an interview with Bukedde TV on Thursday, Mun G shared, “Everyone has their own formula for handling their partner, but the one thing I have learned is that there cannot be democracy in marriage. One of you has to be the leader, and the other has to follow. You cannot all be at the same level.”
As a notable celebrity, the singer of “Byayanga” acknowledges that fame can be a disadvantage in marriage, as potential partners may be motivated by ulterior motives. He advises celebrities to seek someone who genuinely wishes them well, as many may be attracted solely by the desire to marry someone with a recognizable name.
Mun G and his wife Clara have celebrated 11 years together and are blessed with an 8-year-old son named Brazilian. Expressing deep emotion about his son, Mun G is grateful for the opportunity to provide him with a life he never dreamed of having as a child.
Reflecting on his own upbringing, Mun G shares that he was raised by a single mother after his father passed away when he was in S.1. As the firstborn of five, he recalls enduring significant hardships, including moving into his father’s unfinished house with no windows or doors shortly after his passing.
