Military Career: Despite mentioning an early interest in the military after high school, Muhoozi Kainerugaba officially joined the UPDF in 1999. His military journey includes attending the Royal Military College Sandhurst, where he graduated in 2000. Subsequently, he underwent training at the Egyptian Military Academy, focusing on company commanders and battalion commanders’ courses. He also attended the Kalama Warfare Training School in Kabamba, Mubende District. Notably, he participated in a one-year program at the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, graduating in June 2008.
Military Assignments: Muhoozi Kainerugaba commenced his military service as a Second Lieutenant in the Presidential Protection Unit upon returning from Sandhurst in 2000. By 2001, he had risen to the rank of Major and assumed command of the Presidential Guard Brigade. Following his graduation from Fort Leavenworth in 2008, he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and assumed leadership of the UPDF’s Special Forces Group.
