Maddox, born David Ssemanda Ssematimba in Kampala, Uganda, stands as one of the country’s most renowned musicians, contributing significantly to the local music scene. His educational journey led him through Makonzi Primary Boarding School and Busoga College Mwiri. Following high school, Maddox took on the role of a first-grade teacher at “Christian Life Children’s Home,” a school supported by the “Feed The Children” initiative.
In 1991, Maddox relocated to Sweden, where he resided for a period. Even abroad, he continued to propagate the most popular Reggae Riddims in Uganda. Maddox’s distinct voice and the profound messages embedded in his songs establish him as a prominent Reggae artist not only in Uganda but across Africa and worldwide.
His lyrics possess a prophetic quality, imparting valuable lessons, while his love ballads elicit enthusiastic responses from music fans whenever they hear him on the radio. The track “Namagembe” gained immense popularity among Ugandan listeners, receiving extensive airplay on FM stations. Following this success, the riddim master introduced “Nakatudde.” His debut album, “Tukolagane,” resonates with compelling beats and continues to hold a cherished place in the hearts of his fans.
