Gravity, the mastermind behind Trouble Entertainment, established the group as a support system for his musical endeavors. In 2011, he catapulted to the forefront of the Luga flow genre with his surprising hit, “Walumbe Zaya,” a track originally performed by the late Prince Job Kaffero. Gravity infused the song with his Luga flow raps, breathing new life into it.
Collaborating with artists like King Saha, Radio, and David Lutalo, Gravity has etched his mark in the music industry. Born Gereson Wabuyi in 1993 in Nakulabye, Gravity attended Nakulabye Junior School and later pursued his secondary education at Old Kampala Secondary School on a football scholarship.
Despite not finishing his studies after O level due to his burgeoning music career, Gravity expresses regret and a willingness to return to education if given the chance. His musical journey began in high school at Old Kampala Secondary School, where he adopted the moniker Gravity.
During a senior-year summer break, Gravity collaborated with producer Peterson of Redemption Studios and rapper Ruff X. He recorded his debut single, “Joanita,” at the age of 17. Joining the group Born Fire of producer Didi from Makindye, he released songs like “Swagger ft. King Saha” and “Vimba ft. King Saha.”
In 2011, the group disbanded, prompting Gravity’s return to solo work. His breakthrough came when Eddy Kenzo recognized his talent after a performance in Nakulabye. This led to Gravity joining Big Talent and recording the hit song “Walumbe Zaya” in 2011.
Since then, Gravity has achieved continued success with hits like “Broken English,” “Winner,” and “Ekyakuzala.” His concerts, such as “Mwooto Concert” in 2015 and “Embuzi Zakutudde” in 2017, held at Cricket Oval, have been immensely popular.
As the CEO of Trouble Entertainment, Gravity’s unique musical style, often described as a mix of rap and raga, has sparked discussions in the industry. He has received awards such as New Artist of the Year and Hip Hop Song of the Year at the 2013 Hipipo Music Awards.
Gravity’s personal life includes marriage to Nakanyike Sharua, with whom he shares two children. Despite controversies and public disputes with hip-hop artists like GNL and Navio, Gravity remains a creative force in the music scene. In 2019, false rumors of his shooting circulated on social media, but the police confirmed their inaccuracy, revealing only a scuffle with security staff.
Gravity Omutujju continues to make waves in the music industry, leaving an indelible mark with his unique sound and compelling story.
