Early Life and Education
Born to the late Moses Bakaturahi (R.I.P) and Annet Kabatalemwa, Amooti was raised by his stepfather, Yowasi Kyeyune. As the eldest of six siblings, he attended St. Kizito Primary School in Mpigi and pursued his O’ Levels at Masaka Secondary School. Subsequently, Amooti pursued studies in mechanical engineering at Kisubi Technical Institute, graduating in 1997.
Career Transition
Initially aspiring to be a bank teller due to his admiration for wealth, Amooti found himself drawn to comedy, recognizing his natural talent for humor and making people laugh. Embracing comedy as his true calling, he earned the moniker “Boogie Woogie” in 1999 for his comedic prowess. His professional acting career commenced in 2001 at Kampala’s Little Flowers, collaborating with figures like Omulagira Ndausi, Paddy Bitama, and Kigere.
Amooti, characterized by his humorous persona, maintains a diligent and responsible demeanor at home, emphasizing the importance of parental support in nurturing children’s talents. He advocates for elevating Ugandan comedy to international standards.
