He officially entered into a contract, marking the commencement of his salary, in April 2016. Crysto Panda, born Herbert Kityamuwesi, shared that he earned Shs700,000 as a host on T Nation, as revealed during his appearance on Wolokoso Mu UG Extra. Prior to joining NTV, Panda had gained experience at WBS TV, where he had transitioned from Bakiyimbira Dramactors.
His journey into the world of entertainment was facilitated by Charles James Senkubuge, a renowned actor and media personality, who not only paid his primary school fees but also connected him to non-profit organizations that supported his secondary education. Originally from Kabonera in Masaka, Panda faced challenges early in life, losing his father at the age of 10 and his mother during high school.
Panda attended St. Jude Nursery and Primary School in Najjanankumbi, with Senkubuge’s financial support. However, as Senkubuge entered politics, Panda’s educational support shifted to a non-profit organization during his high school years, attending different schools, including St. Monica High School in Bukunda and St. John’s S. S. Kabuwoko.
With assistance from MP Medard Segona, he enrolled at Datamine Technical Business School Makerere for a diploma in IT. Due to financial constraints, he took a break from his studies and encountered a pastor who introduced him to Prophet Samuel Kakande, providing some financial support.
Panda’s involvement in the entertainment industry began with his visits to NBS TV’s Youth Voice, where he contributed from the audience during Humphrey Nabimanya’s hosting. Later invited by Senkubuge, he joined Bakiyimbira Dramactors, where he learned video editing. This experience led him to WBS TV, where he eventually hosted a show.
After undergoing screen and voice tests at NTV, it took three years before Edris Matu Segawa, the producer, took a chance on him in 2015, co-hosting T-Nation. Following a year of probation, Panda secured a contract in April 2016, earning Shs700,000 per month. This income allowed him to return to Datamine and complete his diploma, this time in journalism, with the school offering him a partial bursary.
In 2016, while at Nessim’s studio for an interview, he collaborated with Da Agent on the song “Sagala Manya” after playing a beat. Panda’s breakthrough in the music industry came with “Kyoyina Omanya” after a remix with Sheebah Karungi.
